Dudu Dudu’s Over Sheffield

The average age of the Arsenal XI that faced Sheffield yesterday was 19.5 apparently if you take out Gilberto Silva but the way they performed was at a very high level indeed and the manner in which they swept away the Championship side was a bit like swatting a bothersome fly with all the disdain you could muster. It was a very professional performance nothing too flashy just getting on with the job like,,,, erm,,,,professionals. I can’t recall Sheffield having a clear cut chance throughout the game even though the whole of the Arsenal back four were playing out of position. The team lined up with Fabianski in goal, Justin Hoyte and Song at centre back, Diarra at right back and Kieran Gibbs at left back. Denilson and Gilberto in centre midfield, Walcott and Diaby on the flanks and finally Bendtner and Eduardo upfront. Diarra though at right back played very well yesterday, he’s a very good player and surely if he’s patient enough will undoubtedly get his chance in the team as the season progresses. Another player who played well yesterday was Nicklas Bendtner especially in the first half. He caused the Sheffield defence all sorts of problems and was always available to link the midfield with the strikers. Theo was lively too and Gilberto did his thing as he usually does.
The game started off with Sheffield threatening to do something without actually doing anything a bit like someone saying “am gona get ya” except you’ve just beaten them up and you get the feeling the person’s just trying to save face. After the early threats 8 minutes on the clock 8 passes between the Arsenal defence and midfield + midfield gives it to Bendtner, Bendtner shows a good turn of strength and pace + he gives it to Dudu in space + Dudu sends a dudu pile driver into the net = leaving the keeper with dudu all over his face. 1 – 0 to the kids and we’re cruising.
I don’t like sky commentary so the TV was on mute I listened to 5 live’s commentary instead but they were just as bad they kept repeating the fact that the game was turning in a practise session so I turned that off as well. The first half finished without any meaningful incidents after the goal; Arsenal were very comfortable indeed.
The second half brought the other two goals and well executed they were too. The second goal came on 49mins. Mr Gibbs playing out of position at left back released Eduardo with a 35 yard pass and the Crozilian springing the offside trap finished with the kind of coolness and assurance you hope Adebayor will come to have one day. The score line could have been 3 – 0 but Walcott hit the post after the been put through by Bendtner. His pace put him past the defender and goal keeper but the angle was getting tight and he hit the shot at the post. Good work from the kiddies nonetheless. In the build up to the game the Sheffield Captain Chris Morgan was complaining that the Arsenal players’ didn’t shake hands after we lost the game there last season. You will also remember that he was the same guy that punched RvP with is his grubby hands that led to him been banned for three matches. I really don’t like this guy and that was why the third goal was my favourite. At this point the Yorkshire outfit had already given up Captain Christopher couldn’t come up with any stirring words to galvanise his team. It wouldn’t have mattered though they already jumped ship and left him on board. Denilson got the ball in midfield and with no one closing him down he let it rip from 30 yards and into the net past the goal via a deflection. Now you’re probably thinking why was it my favourite out of the three, well its for a childish reason and this doesn’t sound very mature. The goal took a deflection off Christopher’s bum and I found it mildly hilarious. With all the stuff he was saying before the game I found that very pleasing and it was a brilliant Halloween treat by Denilson, those Arsenal kids. What will they do next!
All in all a good performance and Wenger will be pleased. The Milk Cup has made them healthy and strong indeed. Hm Hm. Special mention to Alice in Chains. Your comments have kept me going in these testing times where my readership is still low. When I do eventually make it big I’ll always remember you as my first loyal reader so thank you and God Bless You, Amen. Till next time.

Yo thanks for the name-check! First time I've been mentioned on any blog... yeah.

I know exactly what you mean about sky commentary; I myself got completely annoyed with their "expert" saying we need to "be sharper" in the final third. So completely dominating, being comfortable and winning the game wasn't enough?

I swear some pundits just don't GET Arsenal and our philosphy, our way of playing. They can't get their heads around it.

Anyway, Good win for the boys and roll on Saturday...
